Rural Housing Week countdown begins

Plans are well underway for Midlands Rural’s week of celebration to mark Rural Housing Week 2018.

This year, Rural Housing Week takes place from 2nd to 6th July and aims to highlight rural housing issues as well as showcasing housing associations’ innovative solutions for tackling them.  It provides an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the affordable developments which offer a lifeline to local people in our rural communities.

The main theme of the week will be to demonstrate the positive value of housebuilding in rural areas and to show how building affordable housing is helping rural communities to survive and thrive.  It will also aim to show how ideas of NIMBYism are becoming outdated.

Staff will be attending the Rural Housing Conference: Saving Rural Communities.  The NHF will bring together key figures from across the rural housing sector to debate the key issues facing rural housing today, from the need to influence policy and increase development to showcasing housing associations’ innovative solutions to delivering sustainable rural communities.

During the week Warwickshire Rural Housing Association will be celebrating the completion of its latest development in Long Compton during the week and Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association will be celebrating the completion of its latest development in Yarwell, as well as the start of work beginning at its first site in Little Addington.
