Since 2024, we’ve entered into partnerships with three local ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) organisations.

This work is funded by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs), which has committed £2.5 million to support a network of Rural Housing Enablers (RHEs) across England.

Available only to members of the ACRE network, the funding can be used to recruit a rural enabler if one doesn't already exist or employ a consultant to provide this service.

Working with the three local ACRE groups, we've made great progress in creating new opportunities to deliver much-needed affordable housing.

We're focusing on:

  • Developing a robust county-wide evidence base of rural affordable housing need
  • Increasing availability of affordable homes where there is a need
  • Working with Parish Councils to help them understand and provide housing need in their local areas.
