The story
The Peak District National Park acquired a cottage and barn in the desirable village of Warslow as part of an estate made over to them in lieu of death duties.
Funding
With limited funds available for renovations, the National Park approached Midlands Rural Housing, who were able to access funds from the Homes & Communities Agency and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. We used this to bring the cottage back into use and convert the barn into two, 2-bedroom homes.
Bat friendly and energy efficient
The barn conversion incorporated special features to protect bats living in the roof space. High-standard insulation and multi-fuel burners ensured that the homes are economical to heat.
Funding
- Homes and Communities Agency (now Homes England)
- Staffordshire Moorlands District Council
Architects
“We were delighted to work with Midlands Rural Housing on this project. They brought in the necessary funding and ensured the homes reached the exacting standards of our planning officers.”
