Newfield End, Warslow, Derbyshire
Working with local authorities.
Completed: June 2011
Homes: Renovated 2-bedroom cottage and conversion of the adjacent barn into two 2-bedroom homes
Architects: The Rennie Partnership, Wirksworth
Funding: HCA, Staffordshire Moorlands DC
Features: The barn conversion incorporated special features to protect the bats living in the roof space. High standard insulation and multi-fuel burners ensure the properties are economical to heat.
The Peak District National Park was left the cottage and barn in the desirable village of Warslow as part of an estate made over to them in lieu of death duties.
With limited funds available for renovations, the National Park approached Midlands Rural who were able to access funds from the HCA and Staffordshire Moorlands DC to bring the cottage back into use and to convert the barn into two 2-bedroom homes.
