Meet the board

Our board is made up of professionals with many years of experience who drive us forward and shape our strategy.

This powers our operations and generates ideas that have helped us become one of the leading housing service providers in the UK.

  • David Frederickson, Chair

David's housing experience began in the public sector when, as a Sheffield City councillor, he chaired the Housing Management Committee, administering the city’s extensive housing stock.

He is a member of Youlgrave Community Land Trust which, in partnership with Peak District Rural HA, has built eight affordable houses for local need in the village.

David was employed by the Church of England in Sheffield as a community worker for fifteen years. After a mid-life crisis he retrained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has worked as a professional actor ever since using his stage name David Frederickson.

  • Darren Paterson CPFA, MAAT, FCCA

Darren qualified as an accountant over 25 years ago, and has worked for the last 20 years specialising in public sector assurance. He currently works in the Professional Standards Department of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Other than for a two-year stint in New Zealand, Darren has always lived in Northamptonshire, with the first part of his life residing in social housing. He thinks that affordable social housing has a vital role to play in today's society, but can see that role is coming under increasing pressures. He is keen to help ensure that Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association maintains its important role in providing affordable housing to help people stay in rural communities that they either live or work in.

Darren also sits as an independent member of the Audit Committee of an NHS Clinical Commissioning Group in Lincolnshire, and enjoys cycling and writing. Darren is also Chair of the Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association board.

  • Derek Harvey, BA, CPA, FCCA

Derek was a Director of Finance and Deputy Chief Executive in the NHS for many years.

He ran his own consultancy business for over 20 years providing financial and managerial advice to a broad range of organisations.  He was a Governor of South Warwickshire College for 12 years, where he was Chairman of the Finance Committee and Chairman of Governors.  He was Chairman of Mid Warwickshire Mencap for nearly 10 years and is also a Director of Warwickshire Rural Community Council.

  • Joanne Tilley

As Corporate Services Director at emh, Joanne is responsible for governance, communications, corporate policy, continuous improvement, diversity, customer information services, co-regulation and promoting tenant scrutiny.

Joanne also takes a lead role in pursuing non-development business opportunities.

She started her career in housing management and has also worked in research, information, and care and support, joining emh in 2004. Joanne is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
